Folding salon table

A folding and sliding table for a boat, built around the existing tabletop and fixed legs.

Design by JLA · Mechanism development & fabrication by our shop

The existing table made it difficult to get to the surrounding seating. It needed to fold away, but the tabletop had to stay and the legs could not be moved.

We developed a mechanism that lets the table slide, rotate, and fold within that space, keeping the existing table and legs.

How it works

Two threaded rods with bronze sleeves travel through curved tracks in a laser-cut stainless-steel plate. They guide the movement and clamp the table in position.

Loosening two knobs lets the table slide and rotate so it can be unfolded. Tightening them secures it again.
